Cascadent Talk About "Oslo" and More.

Was there anything specific that inspired you to write “Oslo”?

Jam: What’s interesting about “Oslo” is that it has been rewritten lyrically a number of times over the years since it’s conception, and it has addressed everything from riots to relationships. When Brad joined, we chose to approach the song in a more abstract manner and the song came to be about the process of dreaming and the euphoric escapism it can provide.

How did you get the idea for the music video?

Jam: We collaborated with Robbie Grantham from Angle Media on the video. The white room in a lot of ways represents our idealized environment as we envision and construct ours songs. No distractions, just us and the music. However, in regards to the city portion, we all spend a lot of time in Atlanta. Just as Brad does in the video, we all make similar journeys before coming together. To deny the influence that our environment has on the music we create would be denying it one the things that makes it what it is.

From what you’ve seen so far since “Oslo” was released, how do you think the fans reacted?

Brad: The support has been overwhelming for me, personally. I think people are getting more comfortable with our overall vibe and sound.

What two words do you think describe Cascadent as a band? (not using genres ie. punk, alt, pop, etc)

Jonathan: Complexity/Kineticism

Can we expect more coming from Cascadent in the near future?

Brad: We are currently entering the writing process for more material. I am really excited because it's going to showcase who we are becoming as musicians. We hope to get this new music out sometime in 2020.

Dream bands to tour with?

Jonah: Circa Survive, The Fall of Troy, The Mars Volta

Speaking of touring, any plans to tour soon?

Sam: We are looking to tour in the early spring of 2020, hopefully extending as far as Texas or New York.

Do you dip your french fries in milkshakes?

Brad: Is there any other way?

Jonathan: The Lincoln Memorial
