Wave Break Talks About New Single,Tour and More.

AUTHOR: Dustin Faye

How was the writing process for "Out Of Breath"?

We wrote nearly the entire instrumental to the song, and then all of the lyrics and melodies were written. We started recording within a month of our most recent lineup change, with our friend Ryan Weil at Weilhouse Productions. It was a pretty seamless and easy process - the song came together fairly easily. The only difficulty we really faced was how long it took for us to get the song, video, and promotion plan together.

How was it different from past writing/recording experiences?

The main difference was that this is Wave Break’s first release without a full lineup. But, our producer Ryan filled in the blanks by helping us come up with the drum and lead guitar parts.

Do you have plans for things to follow up this release?

Yes! Sometime soon we’re going to record our next EP. When that’s ready, there will be more music and videos coming. Also, we’re playing some shows across the tri-state area in March, one with Sleep On It, and we’ll be playing some more after that as well.

What was it like starting a band in New Jersey? How do you think the band would be different if your home was elsewhere?

The very first iteration of Wave Break actually was in Boston. However, when we went through our first lineup change there, I (Kelly) decided to move back home to New Jersey and look for new bandmates here. It’s definitely a different scene up in Boston than in Jersey; it’s much smaller and more tight-knit there. But overall, the band itself and the support we’ve gotten both haven’t changed much based on our location other than the lineup changes.

If you were to be any one inanimate object, what would it be?

Kelly: Probably a vinyl record player!

Ken: I would totally be a bucket.

How do you think fans will react to "Out Of Breath"?

We’ve gotten a good amount of reactions on the first day of release, and so far it seems like people are liking it, which we’re very happy about! We hope everyone continues to.

What do you see in the future for Wave Break?

More music, more touring, and hopefully reaching more listeners in the process.

Best fast food place?

Kelly: Probably Chipotle since I eat there almost once a week.

Ken: Taco Bell!

Do you think your fan base is stronger in certain areas of the world?

Our fan base is definitely very spread out across the USA, with a few people in other countries. We see the most support in New Jersey and Boston since those are our two homes, and overall it’s definitely the strongest in the USA in general. But we’re hoping to branch out more in the near future and hopefully start getting support from other areas too.

Lastly, any big plans for the rest of 2020?

Mainly just trying to record and release the next EP and play as many shows in as many different areas as possible! We’re hoping to spread the new music as far and wide as we can.
